One-year Internship
Training (Optional)
Tuition fee
for an additional one-year internship training
is one-fifth of the annual tuition
fee of a programme.
PolyU
will award scholarships to top students
admitted to its full-time undergraduate
programmes on a competitive basis.
Selection is based on academic merit and
overall excellence/performance. Scholarships
up to an amount of HK$110,000 (approx. US$14,100)
will be offered per annum to cover accommodation,
basic living costs and an annual tuition
fee of HK$70,000. The scholarships are tenable
for three years, subject to satisfactory
academic progress of the award recipients
in PolyU. There is no need for students
to separately apply for scholarships.
The University will identify outstanding
applicants for award of scholarships.
Applicants will be informed of the award
of scholarships upon notification of the
offer for admission.
The
following is an estimate on the annual expenses
required for studying at PolyU as an overseas
student. These estimates do not include
expenses for air tickets, local transportation,
insurance, clothing, entertainment and textbooks.

of one year of study at a recognised university. Definition of Non-local
Applicants Non-local
students are people who have entered Hong
Kong for the purpose of education with student
visas/permits that have been issued by the
Hong Kong Immigration Department. For non-local
people permitted to work in Hong Kong by
the Immigration Department, their spouses
and children (up to 18 years old) who hold
dependent-visas are not considered as non-local
students. In the case of the non-local applicants
who possess only a visitor or a tourist
visa, we can neither register them
as a student nor allow them to commence
study until a student visa is obtained.
Minimum Entrance
Qualifications Our
Bachelor's degree programmes normally last
for three years. Applicants holding non-local
qualifications are expected to have at least
achieved an academic level equivalent to
GCE A-level standard, or completed
the first year of a recognized degree programme.
Applicants holding the International
Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma are considered
having satisfied our Minimum Entrance Requirements
for study programmes up to and including
the three-year Bachelor's degree level.
Applicants with qualifications equivalent
to GCE AS-level standard may be considered
for admission to a four-year Bachelor's
degree programme with the first year dedicated
for foundation studies. Language Requirement
Any
of the following qualifications will be
considered as fulfillment of the minimum
language requirement for admission: 1)
A Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL) score of 550 for the paper-based
test, PLUS a Test of Written English
(TWE) score of 4.5; OR a TOEFL score of
213 or above for the computer-based
test; 2) A
Band Score of at least 5.5 in each of the
sub-tests of the International English Language
Testing System (IELTS) Applicants holding
qualifications other than the above will
be considered by Departments concerned on
their own merit. Applicants may be required
to attend interviews or take tests to emonstrate
their language proficiency. Applicants with
Physical Disabilities PolyU
has a non-discriminatory policy in admitting
handicapped students. You are advised to
inform us if you are physically handicapped
in any way, so necessary facilities can
be arranged before the start of your
study. Candidates fulfilling the basic entrance
requirements and satisfying the specific
physical demands of particular programmes
will be considered for admission on an equal
basis. Visa Non-local
students must obtain a visa to study in
Hong Kong. You should make your application
as early as possible at a Chinese embassy.
It is necessary for you to nominate a sponsor
who is a resident in Hong Kong, aged over
21, who knows you. If you have difficulties
in nominating a sponsor, you may seek assistance
from PolyU.
